ROCKY IS PROVEN AT STUD
|
Rocky is a big, strong handsome Labrador with an excellent nose.
He has acquired his sire's wonderful calm temperament.
His 2018 debut in trials, demonstrated Rocky's wonderful disposition, having done exceptionally well attaining
4th in Lothian and Borders Novice trial and then
WINNING Northumberland and Durham's All Aged Trial at Eggleston Fell - which is a very testing ground.
Rocky made a good start to his 2019 trialling season by attaining
4th in Southern & Western Counties Field Trial Society Two Day Open trial at Nevill Holt in Sept 2019.
He followed this with a good 2nd Place in October 2019, at the National Gamekeepers Org. Two Day Open at
Emblehope and Burngrange Estate and followed this swiftly with another 2nd place at the two day trial
hosted by Gordon District GDC. Rocky continued his winning ways in November, as he picked up a C.O.M. at the SEGS Two Day open qualifier. In December Rocky ran a very good trial at Gordon District Gundog Club’s 12 dog Open Retriever trial held at Tulchan Estate in December 2019 when he was awarded 3rd Place.
In 2020 with only limited trials taking place due to the Covid pandemic,
I was very happy with Rocky at Utility Gundog Society's one day Open trial at Ampton Estate in October 2020.
On a testing ground of wild bird cover and sugar beet, Rocky was awarded a worthy
FIRST PLACE and Best Retrieve of the Trial.
Rocky was lucky enough to get another run in these testing times for everyone.
The Highland Gundog Club hosted a 12 dog Open trial in October 2020 and yet again Rocky did exceptionally well.
After 8 retrieves for each dog there were 5 who finished the trial and I was very pleased that Rocky WON.
I am very proud to run Mr Dan Friedkin’s black Labrador dog Meadowlark Big Rock Fendawood who has had a very consistent season, already winning two one day opens stakes at Utility Gundog Society one day open at Ampton in Suffolk 9th Oct., The Highland Gundog Club one day open in Strichen Scotland 21st Oct.
Rocky finished the year with a good win at Three Ridings Labrador Club's One Day Open at Checkley Wood Shoot on the 7th December - gaining his Field Trial Champion status.
We completed the first and second rounds on partridge in sugar beet with some nice natural marking retrieves. The remaining six dogs were then taken to “Death Valley” for two retrieves where the dogs all picked on the far side of the valley, crossing the tree lined stream on their way.
I would like to extend a big Thank You to Alan Lord and his committee for all their additional hard work caused by these difficult times. Also to Ivor Beavis and his team for presenting plenty of game which made for excellent retrieves.
Utility Gundog Society Eastern Counties held their two day Open trial early October 2021.
Rocky proved very consistent over the two days which started in sugar beet.
In a strong field of competition,
Rocky WON THE TRIAL - AND QUALIFIED FOR THE 2021 I.G.L.
I was delighted that Rocky has really hit the ground running in the 2022 trialling season. Following two days at the Northumberland and Durham Labrador Retriever Club's Open trial on the prestigious Bolton Abbey Grouse Moor; Rocky was one of 11 dogs put through to day two following some great retrieving on the first day.
I am delighted to say Rocky WON and was also awarded Best Dog on a Runner and me, Best Handler.
THIS QUALIFIES ROCKY FOR THE 2022 I.G.L. where he performed brilliantly but sadly did not feature in the final awards.
Rocky soon got into his stride this 2023 trialling season and I was thrilled with his win at the Scottish Gamekeepers Association's 2 day Open Stake which qualifies him once again for the I.G.L. Retriever Championship at Drumlanrig Estate where he performed very well and was in the final 16 from 67 dogs.
